I became friends with Nigel in 1969 when we both started work at M.A.N.W.E.B., Pentrebychan, Wrexham. We cycled to work and also with Wrexham Roads Club. Nigel took me to many of my cycle races in the 1970's in his Reliant Rebel, often staying with my grandparents in Staffordshire. He was quiet, unassuming, and a true friend. I saw him several weeks before his passing and we talked about our health issues as I too was suffering with cancer. Ironically, Nigel passed away on the day that I was undergoing major surgery in Liverpool. I was deeply saddened to learn that I would no longer see my old friend. Thank-you for everything, Nigel.
